We hope that everyone is having a wonderful holiday season so far. We've been busy with the pre-Christmas rush and we're happy to have a much needed break for a few days. Between Family Portraits and Graduations we managed to help celebrate a very special wedding engagement, the Sunday just before Christmas. It was super special and she was completely caught by surprise. In the mean time we are looking forward to the New Year with new ideas, new and exciting changes in the photo world and sharing that with all of our wonderful clients!

Carter's 1st Birthday

Congratulations to Carter! He'll be celebrating his first birthday very soon. It's hard to believe that it was more than three years ago when we did maternity portraits for Jen & Ari (and the soon to be Claire, his older sister). Congratulations to Kathy and Martin who recently got married at Xavier's beautiful Bellarmine Chapel with a reception at the equally beautiful Memorial Hall in downtown Cincinnati! We've known Kathy and Martin for some time as they are very active in the Loveland community. The wedding was beautiful and fun and they uniquely owned their reception. In an industry where we, as photographers, can see a lot of the same types of weddings, the subtle differences make a wedding unique, and Kathy and Martin certainly did that. The Virginia Reel was definitely a fun highlight! We are very grateful that we had the honor of being a part of an occasion where everyone felt like family. Thank you Kathy and Martin, and we wish you many happy years to come.

Memorial Hall Cincinnati, OH

While in Cincinnati last weekend photographing a wedding, I had the opportunity to photograph some of the features of Memorial Hall downtown. This place is simply beautiful! On the lower level are two connection beautifully sunlit ballrooms connected by a central hallway where our couple celebrated their wedding reception. More on them in an upcoming post! Built in 1908 by the Grand Army of the Republic, a post Civil War organization of former Union soldiers, it has served as the home of the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra and the American Classical Music Hall of Fame and Museum.

It's hard to believe, that with all of this summer heat, the Fall is fast approaching! Just five short weeks to football time in Tennessee. In the mean time here is another image for you. I hope everyone is doing well. I just finished up my birthday yesterday and one gift to myself was to go do some more shooting for myself. So I got up at 3AM this morning and....wait a minute. I was debating what do do with this one. Sure it's a little HDR, but I'm trying to keep that fairly restrained and only use it to "serve the image" and otherwise, experimentation is always good and keeps the brain doing new things and thinking about imagery in different ways.

More Early Mornings

So I woke up early this morning (i.e. 4:45AM) and figured I was up, so I went out to look for something to photograph. I have a whole list of odds and ends that I'd like to photograph and some of that is on the UT campus. There is a whole lot of construction going on so all that I planned for the morning was traded for The Torchbearer. I can't say I've photographed it before so here is one.

Sometimes we just need to slow down. While walking Jack yesterday, I ran across a colorful leaf (post thunderstorm) and rather than walk by it decided to go grab the camera and save it. I hope you take a closer look at some of the smaller things around you as well. Enjoy.

Hi everyone! It would seem that I have neglected my blog for quite some time. Sometimes, I neglect it because, well, I'm very very nocturnal and maybe I don't want everyone knowing I get some of my best work done in the wee AM hours. Sometimes I'm up and working on the opposite end of the spectrum such as when I went on a shoot in downtown Knoxville around 5AM the other day. Regardless here's an image from that morning. Enjoy!

We've just had the pleasure of completing the design for Laura & Chris's wedding in December and I can say that it just came together about as fluidly as we would ever hope. It was beautiful and unusually warm December day and we had wonderful time. Laura and Chris were just about the happiest couple we've seen and in my humble opinion look great in all of their portraits! Thank you guys for entrusting us to take care of you on your wedding day!

Having their wedding reception at the Drees Pavilion offered up this opportunity to sneak them out for a couple of portraits with the city lights in the background. We had lots of fun at this wedding whether it was the Bicentennial Park or the beautiful Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption in Covington.

This photo was taken in the Fall in the Lincoln Memorial. The woman pictured is reading Lincoln's second Inaugural Address. At the time the statue was under restoration so I looked for something else to photograph and with the right timing of people passing in and out of frame managed to capture the solitary observer.

Hello everybody!

It seems that all of our little ones are growing up! Here is Greysyn for his first birthday portraits.

He was just a bit groggy at the start as he must have been asleep in the car, but he perked up pretty quick, and was quite the happy little boy. When he wasn't playing with Bert and Ernie he was quite taken with one of our ceiling fans.

In the end we created a nice series of warm moody boy portraits and some cheery playful ones as well.

New Website and Such

So the new website has been up for a bit. There are few holes here and there, but it is mostly together. We've integrated a new ordering system and will be phasing out the old. If you have older sessions from which you would like to order, never fear we can still pull them up.

Welcome everyone to the new Shattered Glass Photography Blog!

Our sincere thanks go out to all of our clients who have been a part of our family in 2009 and we are looking forward to a very exciting 2010 with all sorts of fun new stuff.

Just a few things to come:
